This beats anything i have seen in 30 years of collecting . This was played at the old Newcastle Road ground before Roker Park was built. Never seen anything like this and doubt i'll see it again. Incredible find. £4000 is cheap even in the present climate. This could reach £10000 or more. Certainly a few years ago it would have.

The is a scan of the teams Sunderland v Albion and yes it's the programme. I've had programmes from the 1900s in what seems the exact same paper and design.

Am i correct in saying the team Sunderland are playing is Sunderland Albion (1888-1892) or another team simply called Albion?
According to wikipedia Sunderland played Sunderland Albion on 1st December 1888 in a friendly. But wikipedia don't always get it right.

Incedible item with so much history attached to it - should really be acquired by the football club, but as was seen with a recent sale of a 1921 Crystal Palace Championship medal, usually the clubs are not even aware of the auction tasking place!

If I were a Sunderland collector I'd definitely be making the best quality colour print that I could of the scans it right now for my collection!

If it is Sunderland Albion , then that is stunning. I'm going to have to do some research. I'm buying sratch cards every day but no luck so far lol. Really should be in a Museum. For the money they waste on rubbish players £4000 is peanuts for such an historical item . Think i'll email the club.

bollocks to the club. I made a crazy offer and the programme is now mine. Now that is me finished collecting for a year or two. I guess these turn up once in a lifetime so sod it , i'll worry about the price later Shocked
My great fear now is hundred turn up ( as for example Sheffield United 1890s and next year it;ll be worth a fiver if i'm lucky lol.
Honestly i think in better times this will double or treble in price. ( i hope Confused )

Good man Wullie!

Now you need to find a waterproof, carefully humidified storage container!
