this is an article from a Sunderland v The Arsenal programme 13 Sept. 1930.

" the disallowed goal at Roker on Wednesday once more brought home the URGENT necessity of goal judges. "

81 years on, and they are still talking about it.

Simple idea would be have a goal judge like they do in ice hockey if the ball crosses the line the goal judge presses a button and a big light comes on signalling the ball has crossed the line.
