Looking for a bit of help.

I have a list of Middlesbrough games that were postponed, but I do not know if porgrammes were ever issued for these games.

Could I ask if any collectors of either Boro or 'The Opposition' know of a programme being produced for the following games:

Middlesbrough Homes:
26/12/1962 Norwich City
12/01/1963 Cardiff Ctiy
02/02/1963 Preston North End
23/02/1963 Leeds United
01/10/1965 Portsmouth (Does exist)
01/05/1980 Arsenal
19/12/1981 Swansea City
28/12/1981 Leeds Utd
05/01/1982 Queens Park Rangers
29/12/1984 Oldham Athletic

Aways

03/12/1960 Portsmouth (Does exist - Issue 11)
19/01/1963 Portsmouth (Does exist - Issue 17)
16/11/1963 Manchester City
16/04/1966 Cardiff City (Does not exist - One to strike off)
20/12/2003 Birmingham City (Does exist - Have you got a spare copy?)

If any of them do exist, do you have a spare copy to sell?

Thanks in advance Thumbs Up

I have a 20/12/2003 Birmingham City Away in my collection but unfortunately don't have a spare. Bought off Ebay for a quid so I would imagine it can't be that rare. It's issue 9 and has Clinton Morrison on the front cover.

I think there might be a slight problem with this one:

01/05/1980 Arsenal

Arsenal played Liverpool at Highfield Road that day in the FA cup semi final 3rd replay.

But I have spotted that Boro were to play Arsenal on 02/02/1980 in the league but it didn't happen.

Another game was played 19/05/1980 and Boro well and truly spanked our knackered arses 5-0.

I don't have either programme, so can't help you there.

Cheers ashburton-grove

I know of the 2-2-80 postponement. This was the original date for the game. I have a programme for this and infact have just sold a duplicate on eBay for 4.99 last month.

In order to type this, I have just looked back in the porgrammes and see that straight after the game a rearranged date wasn't mentioned. In the programme for Ipswich in March and the subsequent 5 it was recorded as to be on 29-4-80. Then in the programme for the game on 19-5-80 the fixture list states 1-5-80 Arsenal Postponed.

I am not aware of a programme for either 29-4 or 1-5, and seeing as the Liverpool game was well planned, the likelihood is that a programme wouldn't have been printed until the outcome of the Arsenal S/F was known. Especially as they began on 12th April, then the 29th would have been arranged after the replay on the 16th. So Boro would probably have known not to print until a result was known.

The difficulty is, the Club are no help with anything that happened before 1986. It seems as though all records prior to this were lost when the gates were locked and we nearly went under.

A bit rambly, but I think it makes sense.

Awesome information there Boro, I never knew that.
So I have done a little bit of digging my side and you are spot on.
In the 22/03/1980 programme the fixtures are updated for a game to be played at Boro on 29/04/1980.
But by the 26/04/1980 issue the game had become undated again.
This was still the case as of 05/05/1980, our last home game of the season!
How the fans found out about the game I have no idea as it shows the clubs had no idea too.
Personally I think that there wouldn't have been a programme produced due to the confusion, but you never know.........
