Hoping to go to this, never been to a programme fair in my life but I want to fill in some gaps in my collection. Any list of sellers available and what is likely to be stocked on the day?
Looking for Man Utd homes pre 60, plus a few aways from the 90s and 00s, what are the likelihood of finding these?
Hoping its not all expensive stuff at top end dealer prices. |

There will be 100s of Man United homes Pre 1960 so bring some cash as they wont be cheap ,and you wont get any bargains.
You should be able to pick the 1990s+2000s up cheap.
Its a good day out as you can view your memorabilia before buying
As a Dealer my outgoings will be £300 before i start taking any money, I will always do a deal especially to help out any poor Cockneys |

I am not sure I would bother Pablo. It is too much of a scrum and mostly expensive stuff at top end dealer prices. Mostly they just squeeze every penny out of you. Not to mention that very few have any rare items available anymore as they save those for auctions. Overall not sure it is worth the train fare. |

Part of me agrees with you most dealers charge top whack and wont budge on their prices, but i have a small stall there and my prices will be competitive there are also other similar minded stallholders to myself. |

Wow! Thats made me think a bit more goonerboy. Do you think it would be better to get there early or late as people are leaving and try to pick up some bargains?
Will dealers look to unload stuff late on rather than take it home again or will it be mostly the tight arses that want double what their items have ever sold for before?
Anyone elses input would be most apprecited seeing as I will be travelling from Dorset. |

I overheard a dealer at the Altrincham Fair one May Bank Holiday say that the £5 he was asking for a current season Chelsea away would be £20 at the London Fair the following week. They were selling for around £15 on ebay at the time so the Altrincham price was a bargain but the point was that his London Fair prices were higher.
I think I'll go to the Fair one year though to see what it's like.More like a trip to a museum to look at things rather than with an expectation of buying anything. |

Cost estimate to start making profit =£300. Based on above info of stall fee + parking + petrol = £150 +£40 + £60 = £250. Thats £50 for a few coffees. Who is selling the coffees...the dealers ? |

Actually Posh fully agree with you. If you give the "major" dealers a wide berth and go to the smaller stalls/dealers then the experience is far better and more friendly. The bigger dealers are of course the ones making a living out of it thus every penny counts and they couldn't care less about the people they deal with as long as they make maximum profit. The smaller dealers tend to be the part time boys who are happier with good turnover and modest profit thus treat you like a customer rather than the major dealers who mostly just treat you like a mug. |

A very interesting debate. I have been to the London programme fair for several years now and must say I enjoy it and look forward to it for many weeks leading up to the event.
But, agree that certain (certainly not all)dealers are after every penny and will try and fleece you for as much as they can, they DO also treat you like mugs...... an example, on a particular dealer's backboard was a rather expensive pre-war programme being advertised as 450 quid, I got offered this programme for 400 quid as I was a 'valid' customer..... A good gesture perhaps. Or not, the same programme was on the dealers offers list a month previously for 400quid minimum and clearly didn't sell.
However, the positives about the fair far outway this instance. The 'smaller' dealers are worthy of a visit and will go out of their way to help you. I will if possible try and spend money with these guys but due to the nature of my wants list I think I am rather limited to which stall i shall spend the most money at!!
Who from the forum will be attending (either as a customer or a stall holder)? _________________ Nuts and Bolts Web Design
