Hi Im new to the board been collecting on and off for about 10 years now mainly games I attended and Luton Town also like to buy bulk lots mainly to browse and look for them lost gems

Recently came across Man United v Wolves 8/1/1972 it has an intact token (the Man Utd squad) but no token number I know it should have Token 19 printed on it wondered if somebody could inform me why.

Thanks for the help....

Possibly because Man Utd didn't want to give tokens to programme subscribers. I know I've 2 different copies of Man Utd v v Republic of Ireland XI 1974 - one with a regular token and one with a placeholder for subscribers copies. I know I'm sad to keep both. Very Happy

Programmes were printed up with no tokens and sold by local shops/dealers following the games.
Reserve/youth games were a problem for utd, special tokens were issued letters instead of numbers and fans would simply pay a few pence to get in to get a programme then walk out and pay in again to get numerous tokens.
By the 80s it was that bad main gates would be open to walk out of,nobody was going to try and get in for free(no token!)so instead of big build ups going out though a turnstile the main exit gates were left open...utd were not bothered, numerous(be it small)entrance fees for good ol martin edwards pocket Very Happy
