Hi everyone,

With this weekends FA Cup 3rd Round games featuring non-league York, Dover and Crawley, I was wondering where I can find a list of non-league clubs to reach Round 3 proper and beyond.

Can anyone help with this question or does anyone have a list of clubs who have made it to Round Three since 1945?

Sherlock

You should find the information you are looking for by going onto the Football Association website at:-
www.thefa.com
Click on the F A Cup and then click on archive. A pick list will appear enabling you to select a season. The results of all the matches going back to the preliminary round for that season are then available.
Hope you find this useful.

Yeovil always used to be THE non league team of the F.A.Cup in the 1940's and early 50's. Peterborough did similar in the 1950's beating a good number of league teams which gave them, eventually, unstoppable momentum to get into the Football League in 1960-61.
Blyth Spartans were a gnat's cock hair away from the 1/4 finals when Wrexham just beat them in front of 45,000 fans at Newcastle in the mid 1980's.
Chris Kelly....the Leatherhead Lip, anyone?

Hereford Utd should be right up there with the list of famous non-league FA Cup teams. Their cup exploits of the early 1970s agianst teams like Newcastle and West Ham went along way to earning them league status.

Also, the original Wimbledon, in their non-league days. Wimbledon became the 1st non-league team to win away on a First Division (pre-Premiership) ground knocking out Burnley 1-0 in 1975.

Another good site for information is www.soccerbase.com

Hereford, now you're talking, pudding pitch, huge Mightymac sideboards, Tudor hitting the bar from 25 yards with his FACE. Thousands of kids all wearing parka's, no all seater stadiums in those days, if you wanted a seat, you sat in a tree or hung onto a pylon. Radford's equaliser, I could sit and watch that over and over again.

Grantham reached the 3rd round proper in 1973/74, against Middlesbrough.

I know you were probably hoping for a complete list, but hey it's a start Smile

My word Dan brings back memories dose that Everton v Kings Lynn fixture ,was one of the first Everton games i went to as a stary eyed 12 year old.
We all turnd up for a feast of goals but K/L turned in a great performance and restricted a very good Everton side to just the four goals, and are now defunct if i am right, sad so sad.

I can't think of another team who have played more non league opposition in the third or fourth round of the FA Cup than Middlesbrough have in the last 37 years. They’ve needed a few replays as well, but won them all. The list reads:

73/4
GRANTHAM Away

74/5
WYCOMBE Away
WYCOMBE Home Replay

76/7
WIMBLEDON Away
WIMBLEDON Home Replay

82/3
B.STORTFORD Home
B.STORTFORD Away Replay

87/8
SUTTON UTD Away
SUTTON UTD Home Replay

96/7
HEDNESFORD Home (4th round)

05/6
NUNEATON Away
NUNEATON Home Replay

08/9
BARROW Home

Were Sutton the last non-league team to beat a top flight club (Coventry) in the FA Cup?

The other goal was cored by George. Imagine, Radford and George scoring against Newcastle, but not for the Arse!

BTW, if anybody has any pre 1970 non league in the FACup proper drop me a pm with your wants.

Indeed King's Lynn have gone
But King's Lynn Town have taken their place at The Walks, playing in the UCL, went to see them play Sleaford earlier this season, the standard was poor (that's saying alot given I watch Grantham just a league higher !!
