My team, Burnley, are producing a limited edition print-run (100 copies) of tomorrow night's programme for the game against Manchester United (Burnley's first ever home Premier League game).

This limited edition will be uniquely numbered on the front cover (1-100), and the writing on the cover will be gold-coloured. Other than that, the rest of the programme will be the same as others printed.

Now, I'm a big collector of Burnley programmes, but can I justify £15 for this?

You're right Paulo, but I guarantee that they will sell out!Like Auchkinlechian always says, if we're mug enough to pay for it, the clubs will sell it.

If Leeds were to do something similar I would most definitely get a copy, being against devon's most supported team I guess that the re-sale value of this will be more than 15 quid.

100*15 is hardly cashing in, especially in terms of the money involved within the premier league.

It is a rip off ...pure and simple. Against Man Utd of all teams will ensure big demand. That's why i don't bother with modern programmes. Don't forget the directors team sheet , the press teamsheet , the tea ladies team sheet (only 2 printed and my aunties got one)

Bolton did something similar for the last match at Burnden and the first Uefa Cup tie,i just bought the normal programme.

I suppose it is slightly different with the opposition being Man Utd,it could be a good investment.£15 is just too much though,i'd go up to a tenner.

Personally I'd pay it - if there are 100 and the fact that it is your first match back in the Premiership and it's against Man Utd.

If my club did it I think I'd have to grudgingly buy a copy of each.

Seeing as it's against ManU and guaranteed to be a limited edition of 100 though, I'd pick up a couple of copies of the limited edition one... they'll have to be worth more almost straight away

Yeah i'd definitely buy a couple if i could. They'll only go up in value, especially in a few years time. I wouldn't be happy about buying them though!

I see that the club (Burnley) are issuing all the players and the management from each team to player a premier league fixture at Turf Moor a personal programme. Subscribed with their names on it.

These would definitely be worth getting hold of.

Great result. £15 for a programme - as Wulfy says, it's no more than a blatant rip off, but it will have folk scrambling for it on the back of that result. Wait until they find new ways to take money off you - limited edition pies (might be a bit of meat in) flushing toilets (that would be a novelty) and sponsoring a player's jock strap (you get it at the end of the season, unwashed, and signed!)

Well - what a farce that was.

I rang up the club shop as soon as I found out about these on Tuesday, and asked them to reserve me one. 'None can be reserved' I was told.

So, I asked them what time they would be arriving in the club shop on Wednesday, and was told 'mid to late afternoon'. So at 3.00pm I phoned them up to ask if they'd arrived. 'no' was the response. Tried again at 4pm, and got the same response.

I was due to meet someone outside the James Hargreaves suite entrance at 5pm anyway, so walked past the club shop at 4.45pm, and there was a massive queue. I asked someone working at the shop if the limited programmes were available yet, to be told 'sorry, they're all sold out to people who pre-ordered them'. As you can imagine, I was really annoyed by this, as I'd asked if I could pre-order one the previous day and was told 'no', and wasn't offered the opportunity the two times I rang yesterday.

Went round the back of the stadium to meet my friend, and there were loads of people in posh cars, suits etc. arriving for the game - most of them armed with 2 or 3 of the golden programmes!

So, evidently - it's a case of 'who you know', rather than 'what you know'!

Welcome to the gross financial monster that is the Premiership. Burnley are obviously new to the game otherwise they'd have done at least 1,000 to satisfy demand from both sets of fans, and collectors in general.

One on eBay already up to £30 (reserve not met!) another available for £65 'buy it now', which I fear may be a relative bargain.
