EMAIL SCAM purporting to be from Paypal

I have attached details of correspondence I've had with Paypal over an email I got from someone claiming to be them, saying that I needed to claim back £18 for a payment taken out of my account from Skype. I never use it, or know what it means, so it set the alarm bells ringing, so just in case you get similar, beware as many folk on ehre will undoubtedly use Paypal!

purporting to be from us.

From reviewing the email you sent to us Mr. Holroyd I can confirm that
it is not from PayPal and it is a known fraud email. If you could
forward it to [email protected] and then safely delete it.

Ensuring that emails are really from PayPal:

• Check the greeting. We always address you by your first and last
name, or the business name on your PayPal account

• See if the email asks for personal information. A PayPal email
will never ask you for any of the following:

• Bank account numbers
• Debit and credit card numbers
• Driver's license number
• Email addresses
• Your full name
• Your password, or answers to your PayPal account security
questions

Check for attachments. We will never send an attachment or software
updates to install on your computer.

Thank you for your time and thank you for bringing this to our
attention.

I both deleted it, and reported it to Paypal,

Just forward these to [email protected]
They will then tell you if it is a spoof or not.
If it is a spoof you can then deleat it.
