Same season as the named Workington home. I think this was their first season back as a re-formed club. Don’t have the fixture list for that season so not sure whether it pre-dates the Seaton Delaval issue on the list or not.

A Sheffield United Programme guide

A very poor quality scan of West Ham v Spurs, 2nd November 1907 - original is part of a bound volume in the British Library. This was issue 5 of the first season of issue, unfortunately numbers 1 to 4 are lost

Chesterfield v Manchester City, 27th September 1902,League division two. Was discovered a few years ago when a guy walked into a CFC Heritage Society event with it in a carrier bag.
It was a four programme printed on card rather than paper.
A few of us made offers to purchase it on the night offering good money.
The owner however wisely put into a Sporting Gold auction.
Prior to the auction a number of us agreed not to bid on it so that the heritage society could have a better chance of acquiring it.
On the day however they met stiff opposition from Man City collectors.
However as bidding went on they realised it was going to exceed the amount they had to secure it.
A quick phone call to one of the clubs directors secured extra funds and they finally won it for £2,500 plus the auction fees.
Strangely no other programme between 1902 and the 1921 v Grantham Town has ever come to light.

Scan of the aforementioned Chesterfield v Man city issue. I should stress my copy is a scan version, I haven't got the original which AFAIK is still with the CFC Heritage Society

This was the second home match of the season so its quite likely that a programme was also issued for the previous home match, on 13/09/1902 v Leicester Fosse, or maybe even for the reserve match on 06/09/1902 v Sheffield United Reserves. No other CFC home programmes are known to exist until after the end of the First World War.

There is one other known CFC programme that pre-dates the 21-22 Grantham issue listed in PM, it is CFC First team v Rotherham County Reserves in 20-21

I have a Torquay United programme from the 1924/25 season against Bristol Rovers Reserves 30 August 1924. Unfortunately I am not savvy enough to be able to scan the programme for all to see.

It cannot be the earliest I know but there is a full scan of a 32/3 Notts County v Argyle on the Argyle Heritage site

Scans are mainly of the collection of Mike Rundle....who has probably the finest Argyle collection around.
