This came out of a conversation over the weekend on the Republic of Ireland tour there in 1982. There were 2 games v the national side and an ASL select. No programmes, tickets or teamsheets exist or came back to the best of my knowledge.

I see that Manchester United, Tottenham and QPR also visited around the time. Is there anything known for any of these games? I've spent quite a bit of time on google and Leslie's site etc but can't find anything.

I was chatting with an expert on football in the region at the time but
he isn't focussed on memorabilia.

I'd love to know if anything exists for any of the other games.

A League of Ireland XI did play there in a tournament in 1989 and a programme was produced.

From a QPR point of view, they did two tours. The first was in early May 1989 and the second that included a game in Barbados was in 1995. There do not appear to be any teamsheets or programmes from those games. I have the scores and scorers from the games passed on to me, but these were most likely taken from newspapers of the time. My guess is that that would have been repeated for the other tours

West Ham were due to visit in 2000 to take part in a series of friendlies to benefit Jack Warner (ahem). In the event they didn't go but the programme/brochure exists and appears to be quite rare. It also covers Newcastle United from memory who did go

Thanks for the updates.

St Mirren were there in 1976 I understand.

If Manchester United went there it was likely in 1985 as they visited Jamaica then. Possibly also a mistake as I cannot find any references apart from a guy on a messageboard recalling it.

Regarding the 1989 Irish tour very few came back at the time or have appeared since.

Luton played two friendlies there in 1985:

Monday 14 October 1985 v Trinidad Armed Services
Won 4-1 Scorers: Mick Harford 2, Brian Stein, Emeka Nwajiobi

Tuesday 15 October 1985 v Norwich City
Won 3-2 Scorers: Mick Harford(pen), Brian Stein, Gary Parker
Norwich Scorers: Garry Brooke, Kevin Drinkell

That's all I know but the trip must have been inspiring as on Saturday 19 October 1985 we played Southampton at home and won 7-0, Peter Shilton was in goal - Shilton having played for England on Wednesday 16 October in a 5-0 victory over Turkey.

Still looking for help here on Trinidad and Tobago.

Nothing known for Republic of Ireland games in 1982 but a programme was produced in 1989 when a League of Ireland XI visited. Can anybody help do programmes exist for any of the following

1976 St. Mirren 3 games
1978 Manchester Amateurs 3 games
1982 May 1982 2 games for Arsenal
1982 June 1982 2 games for Manchester City
1983 Tottenham 2 games in May.
1984 mention of a Stoke City tour but no details
1985 Manchester United v Southampton
1985 Southampton 3 gamesin May
1985 Bradford City in November
1986 Hearts tour in May 1986

I’m particularly interested in the Arsenal and Manchester City trips in 1982 which bookend the Irish games. If they exist then surely they issued for the Irish games. If not then unlikely.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks guys. It does look like programmes weren't produced until the late 80's.

My concern is the 1989 one rarely appears either and was only brought back by a couple of people who were asked.

I'd be a lot more confident now that nothing was issued in 1982 although maybe never certain.

No Irish media or fans travelled back then. Most players never really bothered and unless some were handed into a dressing-room it is unlikely anyone sought programmes.

I was still in school in 1982 and although collecting wasn't very proactive. A couple of collectors here did try to enquire but got nowhere. By 1989 there were quite a few requests to bring back programmes from me and others. Even still only a handful came back with many saying nothing was produced. I think it might be as few as 3 in the hands of collectors. Obviously players, officials etc may have kept some as well.
