Cork Clubs

Just following on from Sean's comment in the domestic Cup Finals thread that he hadn't seen a Cork City (original 1938 version) programme before.

Here is a quick overview

Cork United (original 1940 version) issued regularly. The list of clubs after that all produced regular issues at some point. Note there were also periods when very few if any were produced. I did try and tease out the late 70's/early 80's a while back.

Prior to 1940 there was

Fordsons - To be best of my knowledge there is only one known extant Fordsons home programme and that is for the friendly v Kilmarnock.

Cork FC 30-38 - They most likely issued regularly. I once saw a early issue v Shamrock Rovers (30 or 31 can't recall for sure). also issued v Merthyr and regularly in at least 37/38.

Cork Bohemians 1932/33-33/34 - I saw an issue v Bohemians (Dublin) many many years ago. I tried to purchase it without success. I don't know of any other extant issues.

Cork City 1938/39 + half 39/40. - They appear to have issued regularly for 38/39 although I've never seen the Limerick shield or league issues. I'm only aware of the first game v Bohemians and the 7-0 win over Shamrock Rovers which remains their record domestic defeat. They did issue regularly for 39/40 before their demise. Their last game and issue was also v Bohemians 28/1/40.

FYI Sean Cork City v Dundalk 1/10/39 (yellow style see photos) is held by a Dundalk collector. I'm not aware of any earlier extant issues v Dundalk.
