I have acquired a few badges, mostly supporters club badges, and wondered if anyone had any advice on how to date them?

I've searched on eBay and can see most of what is pictured has sold but they aren't usually given a date )or even approximate date)

All are for sale if any are of interest.

They look like they are badges from the 60's and very early 70's.

A picture of the back would help to see if there are any reproductions but unlikely. A supporters club would frequently run the same badge for several years so often there isn't a definitive date.

I collect Supporters' Club badges for the British & Irish clubs too, and when I add them to my Flickr album I always put a "Circa" guess-timate on them. Some may well be wrong or slightly out, but you can usually tell by the production style, the rears etc etc.

I should add, when adding my circa date to these badges, I only ever put a decade. Nailing them down to any particular year is pretty much mission impossible because, like Gresty rightly says, clubs often ran the same style badges for years, even decades in certain cases.

Looking at your lovely bunch of badges, from top to bottom, I'd guesstimate them as ...

Coventry - late 60s / early 70s
Bestie - late 60s
World Cup 1970 - produced in 1969 for 1970
Southampton - 60s
Orient - 70s
Northampton (1) - late 60s / early to mid 70s
Newport Co - 70s (the font is different on the 60s versions)
Bradford - 60s
Northampton (2) - 70s
Charlton - 80s
Tranmere - 70s
Northampton (3) - 80s / poss 90s
Benfica - 90s / 00s
Peterborough - late 60s / early 70s
Derby Co - 70s

Thanks for the comments - most are produced by Coffer, London on the rear.

If anyone does have an interest in a specific badge please let me know. It seems most are advertised on eBay around the £10 range, a little bit either side.
