Despite being owned by Americans-with this particular Family being reviled the World over, it was once "safe" to mention Manchester United and the USA in glowing terms!

Manchester Embarked on 3 major tours to the USA and Canada in 1950, 1952 and 1960 as well as further games played in the USA and Canada during the mid 1960's/1970's and 1980's but these were matches either on their way to somewhere or on the way back. There was a Tournament in Toronto in 1970 featuring AS Bari Glasgow Celtic & Manchester United.

Here are some of the programmes and other items of memorabilia from the 4 above major Tours. Not all the games issued a programme in 1950-1952-1960 which by USA standards was incredible as they lead the field in marketing and their acumen regarding putting on Sports functions is renowned, but it was "Soccer" and perhaps promoters never had the idea that it would ever take off yet they paid United "The Millionaire" team of Manchester to attend 3 times-so make of it as you will.

There were quite a few others trips to the USA and Canada as i mentioned before even as recently as 3 years or so ago when United faced Real Madrid in front of 110,000-Maybe next year will see a return to normality in as much as crowds being allowed back in?-my view is it should be fazed in gradually in line with how we are all coping with the Covid situation.
