Congratulations to Sutton on winning the National League by beating Hartlepool 3-0. Mind you they will have to rip up their 3G pitch, as did Harrogate Town, to kick off their new campaign. |

As a long-term resident of the Borough of Sutton, I can't tell you how proud I am of the club to have done this after 123 years of existence. They have long been my "second team" and I have been to GGL many times. But I never expected this to happen. It's amazing.
However, not only will they have to rip their 3G pitch up, they will have to:-
Plant a grass pitch and hope it grows in time for next season - chances are they will be playing 2 or 3 home games at maybe Wimbledon or Palace.
Employ groundsmen rather than a maintenance man.
Hire or buy mowing equipment and somewhere to store it.
Hire a training ground.
Lose all income from hiring pitch out 24/7 (including to Sutton Common Rovers and Wimbledon Ladies, etc).
And all that for a chance to join the biggest and best league on the planet. What an exciting moment in the history of a great little club! Congratulations to all concerned.

Well done to Sutton. The league table never lies. Lets hope my beloved County (Stockport) can join them in the EFL. |

Delighted for them - a club with a bit of history joining the EFL (rather than those johnny-come-latelies like FGR, Stevenage and Crawley!)
I thought they would run out of steam eventually and be overtaken by one of the ex-Lge clubs but good for them.
Hope they draw Palace in the League Cup, Pete. _________________ http://www.flickr.com/photos/derby1884/sets/ |

Well played Sutton, congratulations. It was Torquay who ran out of steam with 3 draws in their final 3.
Home advantage 1 leg semi final it is then with the final at Wem-ber... oh wait, Ashton Gate, Bristol. |

Great news for Sutton! Helped in no small part by one of our youngsters on loan: Isaac Olaofe - 16 goals this season.
What a great finish to have over 1000 fans at the ground as well.

Living in Cornwall I was a bit torn between Sutton (because of the Millwall connection) and Torquay for winning the league. Now Torquay will get my total support for the final run in! _________________ Millwall league AWAYS wanted

Talking of Sutton United, Dario Gradi was my sports master when I attended Glyn Grammar School, Epsom circa 1965 for a couple of years.
At that time he was a regular in the famous Sutton United team at that time.
I remember him out training every lunchtime but he never managed to improve my footballing skills!!

Really friendly club, enjoyed my trips down there with Wrexham.
Lets hope we can join them, unlikely though I think.
Anybody after any Sutton programmes got loads here for sale.
Mainly homes from the early to mid 70's then later national league.
A few aways from the late 60's on.
Drop me a pm if anybody wants a list. |

I can only echo the words already said in this thread.
Well done to Sutton.
I have to admit that I was hoping for Torquay to pip them, but only due to where I now live and the fact I have a lot of Gulls fans as friends.
I will watch Sutton's results with interest next season. |
