Carrying on from the original thread found here

http://www.footballprogrammece.....;start=140

I have now heard back from Colin Chisholm, the Commercial Manager at ATFC. This is what he proposes:-

One option could be a John Holroyd Memorial Trophy for a Player of the Year to be chosen by the Beechwood Regeneration Committee(B.R.C.) of which John was a very valuable member and for which he did his fundraising activities. The Club is also in the process of installing a Subscribers Board, to be displayed in a prominent position within Beechwood Park, which highlights the improvements made by the Club in conjunction with the B.R.C. and to which supporters (past or present) can have their name or that of a relative added for a cost of £50.00, which goes towards the cost of a new medical facility and any future projects.

So we have a couple of ideas there and I now need to get as many people as possible here behind it. £50 for the entry to the Subscribers Board I'm sure won't be a problem, and then we have the Memorial Trophy to consider. If you agree with this, or have any other suggestions as an alternative, please reply and if you would like to suggest a figure you'd be happy to contribute, then please DM me.

I could start a Just Giving page but that's maybe optimistic and I'm not sure how that would pan out. Maybe you guys have other ideas. If money is forthcoming we must have some sort of method of holding it without any possibility of a "misunderstanding". Perhaps it needs two of us to act as signatories.

Anyway, I look forward to hearing from you all.

I am good for £10 and I am happy to put my faith in Pete to see this through.

As to what option(s) we go for would depend on the total we collect but if there is not enough for both options then the Memorial Trophy would be my preference.

Should there be a closing date for donations?

Pete, don’t know what the rules and regulations are , but would you not be allowed to give your home or business address so that people can send a donation? Another idea that might raise funds quickly would be for members if they want to , to sell an item ( obviously it would have to be an item that is considered to be collectible and doesn’t weigh a ton) from their own collection on eBay . If the item was posted to you, that’s if you don’t mind doing do this and selling it on eBay for the fund, it would be interesting to watch what these different items sell for. It could have a heading : ln Memory of John Holroyd - Auchinleck Talbot FC. All Proceeds From This Sale Go To The Above Fund. I can start the ball rolling with a rare Jim Baxter item . Just thinking out loud here. Perhaps it’s a daft idea Get My Coat

I'm a relative newbie to this forum compared with a lot of you folk, so know little about John. Although it is very obvious that he was/is held in high esteem by those who had dealings with him. I have noted his contributions to the PM&FC magazine, a number of which have recently been donated to our club shop.
How it got into our shop I don't know, but we have a VGC copy of the Hearts v Auchinleck Talbot programme from February last year including a team sheet. I'm slightly puzzled why the t/sheet is dated 9th Feb & the programme front says 10th Feb, but I'm sure there is an explanation. TV I guess?
If any of you folk think you could make use of it to raise a few pounds in memory of John, please let me know. I currently don't do Ebay, although I'm aiming to later this month all being well, so could put it on then. In the meantime if anyone would like it for their own collection, whatever is offered I can assure you will find its way into the fund once it has been set-up.
Kind regards
Clinton Johnson (Director of Hythe Town FC...NLS Step 4)

Thanks, £10?

Tributes for Gordon will have to be dealt with separately. Do we have a volunteer?

As to the 2 guys proposing selling via Ebay etc, of course, if you fancy doing it, I'm from the school of thought that says, if you think of it, then you do it. It would need to be pretty quick though as I want to give ATFC a final figure. If FiveandIn is £10, we are on £160 cash and that would pay for the entry on the board (£50) and £110 for the trophy. I'm still hoping we get a few more cash donations in the next 48 hours or so, then I can write to ATFC and make our offer.

Using Ebay will be very tricky logistically and with their + Paypal charges & all the postage, very hard to work out the final figure. I'm afraid I just don't want to go there, myself. Sorry. But don't let me stop you.

Easy
