It could be the standard shipping for the shop. Burnley was like that at a fiver but there was an override for programmes.

Perhaps they will do the same if someone points it out to them.

Doncaster have announced today 18th November that from 21st November their programme will go digital https://www.doncasterroversfc.co.uk/news/2020/november/rovers-matchday-programme-goes-digital/.

They have not even considered their opposition programme collectors needs, if I remember correctly the programme against Ipswich Town sold out prior to kick off.

Statement sounds like it is contradicting itself, suggesting programmes will still be produced to honour those who have subscribed and the supporters club, so as an away fan i guess that’s the point of call if they are selling them on!, interesting they suggest less than a 100 copies sold wonder how that compares with other teams in the EFL ?

Wink

The Supporters Club only get 25 copies which are already accounted for, they hold them for fans who can’t always get to games etc. They may have one or two spares but it’s unlikely to be any more than that.

Cheers
Gavin

I emailed Shaun Lockwood about this situation and think it is only fair to show his well reasoned reply.

We have been running the programme on a made to order basis all season so far and it is running at a loss to the club. Less than 5 supporters are buying from opposition clubs on average.

At a time when our revenue streams have been reduced to nothing and staff have been made redundant, I cannot in good conscious continue to deliver a programme that loses the club money.

However, we are incredibly mindful of the tradition of the programme and the fact that collectors are out there still wishing to receive a hard copy product.

Therefore as per the article we are providing our supporters club with copies for collectors and so I am happy to provide our details to them to ensure you can receive a copy at this game but also our future matches.

Regards

Shaun

I have also had some engagement with Shaun and with his authority printed the EFL Trophy Programmes which were digital only and managed to turn a profit (which I will be giving back to the club).
We haven’t made it easy for fans to buy the programme, little to no advertising other than at the start of the season. It’s almost impossible to find where to buy them from on the website (it’s now removed due to the changes in production), is it any wonder we lose money on it.
I understand the argument and sentiment, however feel it was set up to struggle from the beginning.
If fans don’t know about something or can’t find from an easy search, you aren’t going to sell many (that applies to any product)

Hopefully the world returns to normality soon which might change the landscape as there will be physical fans to sell too at a stadium

Hi,
Sorry, I’m not quite following this. I am a Sunderland supporter and collector. Is it possible for me to buy a hard copy programme for the match v Doncaster this weekend?

Thanks
Andy

Hi Andy,

Nope, the club have withdrawn the sale of paper programmes from the Sunderland game onwards.

They will produce a paper programme for those who have already subscribed for the season, but won’t sell any on top of that.

Hope that clarifies

Cheers
Gavin

Unbelievably Swindon couldn't even be bothered to print Teamsheets for the press guys in the stadium for the Rovers game today. Piggin disgrace in my view. Oh well I will design my own then.

Swindon have emailed me today to advise that there will be no programmes or team sheets issued until full capacity is reached. I cannot print my thoughts about this.

To not even do a teamsheet is shocking. Northampton do one and sell it on eBay, with reductions if you buy more than one, you would only need to sell a handful to cover costs. I bought 4 from the weekend game against Donny at a cost of £6, that would pretty much cover a print of 100 !

After Doncaster saying they were only going to produce for those who had a subscription, I have just noticed they have the Gillingham and Swindon programmes available for sale individually if anyone is interested

Nothing surprises me and having just checked you are correct.

If anyone is wanting any of these programmes, let me know and I can probably get my hands on them

Cheers
Gavin
