5 seasons of this cover, classy but so boring. As a small kid I thought every club did this sort of thing. But then my big bro and my next-door neighbour started going to away games and my eyes were opened.

The most boring programme cover Razz I can see another thread coming on.

However, back to this day in history,

9th April 1938

Its pre-war this time, a reserve programme.

I’m not quite sure how but Stockton managed to get the year wrong. It should read 1960. Nevertheless, more importantly it was played on 9th April. Stockton v Boro Res North Riding Senior Cup Semi-Final.

A pretty bog-standard picture used on the programme, they used the same one all season from memory with just the opponents name on the front.

However, i'm posting this as this was my first ever match 44 years ago today (Saturday 10 April 1976), and a 3-0 win for Swindon to boot Very Happy

Another North Eastern programme from 10 April 1954. This one is Hartlepools v Barrow.
The Hartlepools programme cover followed a very similar format from after the war to the early 60s

A double whammy for Scarborough on 11 April 1964, two games in one day!

Kicking off at 2.30pm they played Denaby in a Midland League fixture winning 2-0. Then at 6.15pm, after nipping home for a cuppa, they entertained South Bank in a North Riding Senior Cup Semi-Final tie. They lost that game 0-2. Interestingly the programme listed the same Scarborough team for both fixtures. Any manager worth his salt would have had them in the next day for extra training after losing that Semi.

12 April 1952 Halifax v Gateshead.
Halifax programmes from the early 50s can be hard to find.

I recently got about 100 of these Hartlepool's programmes dating from 1946 to 1960, the fascinating part is that during that period there were no club notes or information only adverts and the team listing!

13 April 1946

A one all draw between Workington and Consett in the North Eastern League. The notes make reference to the friendly played in 3 April between Newcastle and Blackpool which drew a crowd of 9000.
