Just reading Westyorksnffc's post about his Forest supporting wife. Good on him for enjoying having a wife that also attends football but what about other posters?

I am in the other camp, I like to watch football with the lads and see it as 'boys time' I have taken the odd girlfriend to a game and once took my ex-wife but it just didnt feel right, this might be due to them having no real interest and not understanding what the passion is all about.

Now, my current girlfriend really knows her stuff, she has certainly been to more games than me as her dad played for Forest in the 60s and 70s, her ex-husband was a professional footballer in the 80s and 90's (starting at Forest) and her son has played at non league level and seems to have a bit of a future in the game... But talking to her about football and taking her to the football just doesnt sit right with me. This is probably due to a few reasons.

1. Due to her experience of football and footballers she has a different attitude towards the game than I do... Hers is mainly positive, mine is mainly negative
2. Football is 'boys time'
3. She doesnt like my mates looking at her massive cleavage

My mrs goes the game with me and all other things including fishing where I have to setup her tackle before mine. It's the price of love but when the kids used to come to it could take me over an hour befor I got to do any fishing Smile

Let's face it, this new offside rule has been a leveler, no bugger understand that so the has never been a better time to take women to the match Smile

Funnily enough my girlfriend comes fishing with me and she loves it* I have managed to teach her how to set her tackle up. I just need to do the same with both of our daughters.

*At 1st she just came along and did some sketching and painting, then she had a go and wants to fish all the time now

I'm with you Carl. My mrs plays for Forest ladies, but because she's from Sheffield, she's a Wednesday fan. I'll take her to Forest v Sheff Wed, but I see Matchdays as the one day of the week where I go out with my mates for a few beers and a laugh.

Not an issue with me.
My mrs hates football with as much passion as I love it.
I don't ask her to come to games with me. (I know it would hurt if I did)
She doesn't try to stop me going. (She knows what she would get, two words, one of which is OFF, if she tried).

The subject is not spoken about between us.

If it is mentioned by someone else she just ignores us untill we finish.

It seems to work for us.

Sounds like my relationship mate Very Happy

To be fair she did come to a few games when we started going out, but she didn't really understand it and didn't enjoy it, but in general doesn't try to stop me from going unless there's some kind of important event on.

Thankfully her birthday's in June so at least I'll never have to miss a game for that Wink
