Just been having a "rummage" and found a "souvenir programme" for Daily Mirror "Wembley Soccerscope" and it includes line ups from some iconic matches so I thought I would share it in quiz form for fans of a certain age and perhaps younger!!! This is the England XI that played Hungary in 1953 in a game that changed English football for ever. Can you fill in the blanks???
I.-------------------------------Birmingham City
2-------------------------------Spurs
3-------------------------------Blackburn Rovers
4-------------------------------Wolves
5-------------------------------Blackpool
6-------------------------------Portsmouth
7-------------------------------Blackpool
8-------------------------------Blackpool
9-------------------------------Blackpool
10------------------------------Sheffield Wednesday
11------------------------------Spurs
Amazingly only one current top division team represented. A sign of the
times for sure Good luck to all contestants. Answers later. No Wazzocks!!

Yes, amazing - and that one player was playing non-league football for Finchley less than 12 months earlier.

That's No 11, George Robb of Spurs.

I know this 11 so I won't say any more.

Nice one!

Sorry - thought this game was before he joined us, however, having just checked his details he was playing for Wolves in 1953. My memory not as good as it used to be!!!!!

Like Pete, I know the eleven, but I can't leave a Spurs man "hanging" any longer!

Number 6 was the Mr Portsmouth (and a real Gentleman) Jimmy Dickinson....something tells me he's looking down on us today with a smile on his face like the rest of Pompey has!

Can't fault that one Beaudog Bow Full House
The sequel is the England XI that played out a 4-4 draw against a "star-
studded" FIFA XI in the same year, 1 to 4,6 & 7 unchanged
5------------------------- Charlton Athletic
8--------------------------Blackpool
9 -------------------------Bolton Wanderers
10-------------------------Sheffield Wednesday
11-------------------------Wolves

Also two players scored in both games Who???
