Did you ever come across the F A Cup fourth round Crewe Alexandra v Tottenham Hotspur 2-2, then at White Hart Lane Crewe Alexandra were stuffed 13-2 that was the year 1959-60.
I went and stopped at a friends house and he opened the programme shop for me, whilst the reserve match was on, that was quite weired because most fans say the programme shop never opens at reserve games, mind depends who you know.
Both of them programmes are a pretty penny because the Tottenham still had a newspaper edition until 1962-63, maybe because then Tottenham were one of the richest clubs in the League, Due to the fact they were the first team to do the double in the nineteenth century, Preston North End were the first in 18 century, now their programmes go for around the 9 - 10,000 pounds mark that is 1888-89. _________________ Harry says "UP THE AVENUE". |

That's nothing, I've got a single sheet (bit soiled) for Yorkists vs. Lancastrians 1464 @ Hexham. |

Huh! Can beat the pair of you...
Cro Magnon Wanderers vs Neanderthal Rovers a very, very, rare issue scrawled onto a wall with woad in Northern France, circa 10,000 BC. No punch holes as it's solid rock, paper wasn't going to be invented until some Chinese guy stumbled on it many, many moons later. |

I recently picked up the Scotland v England issue, played at Bannockburn Amateurs ground in 1314 (I don’t think the playing surface has improved much over the years). It’s a 16 pager but the front cover is a bit grubby and bloody.
I note that a chap named R Bruce played centre-forward for Scotland, and that Duncan Edwards great great great great great great great great grandfather was in defence for the English. There’s no score marked on the front cover, just a handwritten note “complete rout”.
There’s also a painting depicting this historic auld enemy clash, seems like Wembley wasn’t the first venue to see white horses on the pitch….. _________________ https://www.flickr.com/photos/footballprogrammes/albums |

I know a bloke who knows bloke, who's mother's brother has a distant cousin (twice removed - from Old Trafford) who thinks he has a nephew from a twice married father, who in turn is illegitimate, who was a collector of Football memorabilia. The story goes that he attended a football match at Rugby school where one of the players actually picked up the ball and ran with it and thus invented the game of rugby......
To cut a long story short, he had a programme from the game but threw it away in digust!
How much would that programme be worth in today's market? javascript:emoticon(' ') |

Looking for Britannia v Romans X1 Provinces Cup 46AD need it to complete my Roman occupation of Britain collection, was due to be played in Colchester but due to 7000 deaths the week before the game was postponed and moved to a neutral venue in Dacia, I know Dacian programmes are pretty hard to get hold of as few have survived the next 2 milleniums due to War famine disease plagues more wars and the great Bradford Park Avenue supports club invasion of Europe! |

I recently brought some programmes in a box with a seal on it saying, "for Pudding Lane East London" the year was 1666.
To my disgust all I found for £600 was a box load of Ash, underneath the box another label saying "For terracing only".
Was Archibald Leach born then, or a relation of his, trying to build some stadiums, to take football into a new light and of the streets.
But still there are rare programmes to find these days, for there was a limited stock of football programmes, most of them were found to prop up the main stand in Wembley, no other programme I have seen like this one should be like ROCKIN HORSE **** should go on Ebay see how much the box goes for. _________________ Harry says "UP THE AVENUE". |

How do you know you lost by 50p? The winning bid may have been 50p more than yours but the winner may well have bid £500 more than you! L |

I kept a watch on the items I bid for on ebay you can check between the bidding as to who is bidding higher or lower, yes it went for £10.50p 50p more, their not that rare but sometimes they go for extortionate prices, common you Ebay. _________________ Harry says "UP THE AVENUE". |

Both programmes were in mint condition, I suppose it was just luck more than judgment, that both were worth £10 I thought they will go for more, a friend of mine put a world cup final programme on Ebay it was the gold covered one Germany, for some reason he kept the silver brochure he had, after 29 days he got very upset, the programme went for £2.99, I suppose that's just the luck of the draw. _________________ Harry says "UP THE AVENUE". |
