Hi

Can anyone help me fill in the gaps in the information I have on the grandly titled Isle of Man International Football Festival.

The tournament ran from 1983 to 2005 and I am missing scorers from the following games:

03/08/84 Carlisle United 1-0 St Mirren
03/08/84 Athlone Town 3-1 Isle of Man (just Athlone scorers needed)
01/08/87 Dundee 0-1 Stoke City
19/07/99 Isle of Man 0-2 Oldham Athletic
23/07/05 Carlisle United 2-2 Port Vale
24/07/05 Isle of Man 0-4 Port Vale

Any help much appreciated.

Many thanks

That was quick, thank you.

Interesting to read, especially as the official history gives the result as 2-1 and even says it was the highest scoring final to date! All of the previous finals had finished 1-0.

Just done a bit of digging for a book about the Festival that I knew I had somewhere.

Unfortunately it does not help you because for 1984 and 1985 it does not show scorers (or results for that matter) and for 1987 it has all the results and scorers but for some strange reason, not for the final.

For 1989 it has results and scorers but no dates of fixtures.

Pretty useless as far as you are concerned ugarte but here is a scan of the publication for reference.

Thanks for looking, really appreciate it. I have similar booklets from 1990, 1997 and 1998 and they all suffer from the gaps you describe!

Can't resist doing a bit of research when I have time, so I thought I'd check if Blackpool played Blackburn pre season in 1985 in the Lancashire Manx Cup.

They did and the game was at Ewood Park, 4 days after the game in the IOM when Blackburn beat Stoke.

So having dug the programme out expecting a reference to that game, it was good to see that not only was the Blackburn goal scorer mentioned, Simon Barker, but the programme included a photo.

You're welcome.

I have tried researching the others but whereas there are various references to the fixtures and scores, goalscorers are conspicuous by their absence.

I am sure you know that already though.

I've not got a spare of that one sorry. Although I do have a copy so one was definitely issued. It's a tough season to get as they were only plain typed sheets.

a long shot I know, but if anybody has a teamsheet from the following two games vs. Blackburn for sale I'd be very grateful:

1984 v Isle of Man (group game)
1984 v Sunderland (final)
