A hefty price for a post-war programme. can Chelsea or Sunderland collectors confirm if it is as rare as the seller is making out ?

The 1947/48 v Manchester United sold for £2800 if i remember right. I'm going to look in my grans attic next time i vist...

If anyone knows the value of Chelsea programmes, it is this seller, he is a long established Chelsea collector who knows his stuff..............

i've got 12 Sunderland homes from this season (sadly not Chelsea) and never paid over £35 for any of them. And i doubt that any more or less issues were printed for the Chelsea game than any other league game so there must be some around. Hopefully i may get one for a sensible price one day?

Sunderland programmes are quite rare, I paid over £300 for one v pompey 46/47.
I expect Chelsea being a popular club has put the price up thou'.

Having said that I don't think I could pay that amount for any programme but if its the last one you need.................

Christmas could be cancelled.

The guy makes the point that he paid almost £2000 for a copy 8 years ago. With all respect this doesn't make him an expert , just rich lol. The fact that two or three people with loads of money bidding frantically for a rareish item just distorts the market. What happens when all three of them eventually gain a copy? Is the programme still worth £2000 or is the programme worth what the next in line would bid for it ...say £200? I remember watching with amazement a 1940s home v Charlton go for over £300 on ebay. Within a few months i picked up the same programme for £30. So what is it's true value? £300 or £30 ?

£300 could be too much, £30 may not be enough. It's only worth what someone is prepared to pay for it.

I always think that when someone asks me how much a programme is worth, I try to think about how much it would cost me to replace it from a dealer.

Because there were onyl 2 bidders first time around I'm guessing the second bidder is waiting for it to be relisted at a considerably lower starting price!

I wouldn't at all be surprised if the seller had 2 and offered a second chance offer to the other bidder,
