Post subject: Southampton v Manchester United 1976 Signed programme |

Hey All,
I have a programme from the 1976 FA Cup final in excellent condition.
It is also signed by all the winning Southampton team and Manager Lawrie McMenemy.
I am just wondering if anyone might know roughly how much that would be worth if anything at all.
Thanks for any help provided

The programme itself is only worth a couple of quid.
Whatever value there is will be found in the signatures.
The important things are how well are they laid out and quality of the signatures.
By that i mean are they done on the run and scribbled all over the place or are they neatly signed say next to the names in the programmes
On the assumption that they are well laid out you now move onto the market place.
Currently very depressed.
Southampton are not "that" collectable and United in this era had players who would happily sign so to get a cup final programme signed of which there are tens of thousands is less valuable than say an after match banquet.
A good set of United signatures in this era might fetch say £25 due to the lack of superstars at that time
The Southampton value won't be far behind due to the untimely passing of some of the players and the manager.
So if i owned this item i would be valueing at £40/50.
That said i suspect you would get nearer £20 on ebay if indeed you found a buyer.
I would put away until the market picked up,if indeed it ever does |

Thanks for the reply. Its a family air loom that was passed down to me and all signatures are next to players name in the team listing in the middle. As it is a family air loom (and being a massive saints fan) I am not looking to sell it. But thank you very much for taking the time to reply!! |

Sam,
Keep hold of it, will only go up in value over time.
I would say £30 +

i have no idea why i thought Lawrie had died
I must be confusing him with somebody else.
Apologies
I would go a stage further than just keep it.
I would actually build round it
With the market being so depressed i believe that for very little money you can get all sorts of things to add to it.
You can get a programme for every round leading up to the final and probably a ticket as well.
There will be newspapers surrounding the final that won't be difficult to acquire as well
Other items such as menus etc will also be about
Go to your local decent stationer and buy a binder to suit and keep it all together and out of the sunlight
That will be nice to pass down imo |
