Picked up these amazing football boots from the early to mid-1950s today. they are the famous Manfield Hotspur brand but I can't trace the 'United' style anywhere - anyone on here got anu clues?
There are plenty of references online to other Manfield Hotspur styles but not the United one.
The boots have never been worn and are in as good a condition as you would find, the studs are nailed in and the laces are original - the tip of one lace is missing otherwise they are perfect.
Having said that I wouldn't have fancied playing in them, reckon they must have contributed to a fair few turned ankles and cracked shins given the rock hard toecaps!
I noted with interest that a pair of the ordinary everyday Hotspur brand sold at Graham Budd for £220 in May 2014.

Some (similar looking) were sold on the antiques road show last week for a tenner........

But the programme could be years old.....

They thought they were rugby boots.....
