Some "nice" items there! What a varied collection of items! Do you just pick up what you fancy or is there a method in your purchases? I.e resale opportunity in the future or for specific collections?

I still find the odd gem on ebay...just got a mid fifties practice match. Not cheap but a fair price....I would have gone higher at auction.

Even better a Headington post war from a job lot went for just under a grand! paid for a fair chunk of our bathroom upgrade!

It isn't the sitre it once was and I hate trawling through the constantly relisted run of the mill stuff but every now and again you a re glad it is there!

Peter

I've always bought what I think to be good value, very often with a view to using for exchange purposes and sometimes for resale.

The 1958 FAC Final lot has fur components which must be worth probably at least double that which I paid. I haven't seen the wee rosette anywhere before so assume it must be something of a rarity. Lesley?

The Spurs handbook, which I'd bid on the previous week when another one was on offer, was a steal as the last one went for £67.

That little "tuck-in" Rosette was the item that caught my eye most as I looked through your links, what a delightful item that is.

Absolutely lovely.

Bolton rosette given away with "The Buff"not a rarity really-I do have one or two of them but the United version a bit more difficult to locate do not know why from memory the paper rosettes are Red and White and Dark Blue and White and whilst the Bolton one has the teams printed the red and white version from the Daily Express do not have the club's names printed on them. I saw this lot on ebay but as I had a number of each of the items and I am no dealer what's the point and I felt no one is going to really want to do an exchange as most items are readily available-anyway that was my take on it. Besides John if I thought it was a rarity you would not have won it for sure! haha!

Some 1958 Cup Final bits n bobs https://flic.kr/s/aHsjetB7Qa I have other but getting round to adding everything takes time-I do it on an ad hoc basis so plenty of different items to maintain the interest.
Here are some of the latest uploads-very diverse www.flickr.com/photos/manchesterunitedman1/

As a collector I have opened my collection up to everyone and anyone, some take liberties and steal the images and then re-print them, ebay is aswash with them, but what I buy and what I pay is my affair TBH and that is personal to me and I do not see the need to share.

I have spent amounts that would make your eyes water and I have spent amounts around a pound[recently]. However unlike some who would come on the site and berate everyone telling them of the £1000's of pounds they paid for this or that is worth mega amounts-with respect I prefer to keep that side of my affairs strictly private.

I have had bargains on ebay like you would not believe and won items that others either never saw, or did not know the significance off, but that is experience built up over nearly 53 years of collecting.

Oh and I have dropped more bollocks than a short sighted juggler over those years and still do-but the ups outweigh the downs-you take it on the chin and start again.

Wave

I wondered why this Bolton paper rosette was not on the flickr site-just located it as it was in a different binder, this one does show the teams and it was given away by a local Bolton newspaper at the time "The Buff"
on the reverse it says "As usual The BUFF will be there with you!
On sale at St. Pancras station, Euston Station and all coach depots from 9pm"

Great post Leslie! This sentence sums it up for me:-

I have had bargains on ebay like you would not believe and won items that others either never saw, or did not know the significance off, but that is experience built up over nearly 53 years of collecting.

Isn't it great when you find something truly rare, and whack on a massive snipe, knowing that you'd be prepared to pay way more than it is really worth, but that you really want it anyway........and then no other bids and you get a smashing item at a fab price. Best feeling ever.

Especially if you nervously watch the last minute or two tick down second by second on the clock!

Totally agree. This is my recent bargain, I would have paid more!
