I realise there was a shortage of paper during WW2 and immediately after.

But some printers published programmes better than others.

Which clubs produced the best quality and the worst during this era?

Does anyone have examples of programmes printed during wartime and immediately after?

Was there better quality programmes in different regions at this time?

Which clubs programmes have stood the test of time?

Any clubs examples appreciated.

I think most were pretty dire. I think, well at least in Sunderland's case it went from week to week. Some of the paper was passable quality then other weeks it was like tissue paper. How so many still survived God only knows. The quality of the print was hit and miss as well , but I put this down to bad printers as this continued for many years after the war.

Hi Wullie

thought I'd respond on this thread about staples instead of it taking over another thread.

I get that metal was needed for the war effort and that rationing went on
until 1954?

But what gets me is that lets say a 1948 Hull City programme has stood the test of time in my opinion better than the 1948 Cup Final programme which is notorious for rusty staples.

Just wondering why a relatively lower league club (at the time) produced
a better quality programme the the major showpiece final programme ?
