Can anyone identify or date this fob i have, it came from the family of a former Bolton Wanderers player called Billy Vaughan, he possibly played for them before the Football League started in 1888, the button ball part of the fob rotates, and is about an inch in diameter. many thanks

Just to confirm that the book 'Football League Players Record 1888 - 1939' only has one Billy Vaughan (born 1898) and he didn't play for Bolton Wanderers.

Your assumption that he played for them before 1888 is therefore likely to be correct.

I've got one of those somewhere - I can't find it now but I know it's exactly the same as this.

I'll try to find it........ might take a while!

Thanks Bazza for the link on the history of Bolton Wanderers and everyone else who responded to my question, the fob i have came with a Bolton Wanderers supporters favour i picked up at Graham Budds auction, with the fob came a 1959 Bolton Evening News article which featured this favour and said it belonged to a former player named Billy Vaughan who wore it to the 1894 cup final, the 1904 cup final and the 1923 cup final, the fob came from the same family, i don`t know if John `Jackey ` Vaughan is the same player, the article said he wasn`t originally from Bolton, we will probably never know
