Looking for a little advice gents if you can?

I am considering building a website to display my collection alongside other information. I am a complete novice when it comes to website building so would like advice on which of the various website building companies to choose from and what the costs per month etc. would be.

A number of you have very good websites set up already. I have been told the easiest to use is 'Weebly' Is that the case?

Any advice from your experiences would be appreciated.

There are lots of good website building sites around, some free and some costing a fee.

I have been using Weebly which is an excellent and easy to use site.

The basic features are free which are enough to create a football programme and memorabilia site.

You can also upgrade to Pro or Business accounts for a fee.

I am sure there are plenty of other sites that members will be able to recommend but I don't think you can go far wrong using Weebly.

I use Flickr.......Its free & easy to use

I have over 36,000 scans

You may need a 'Yahoo' e mail address

You can make the scans downloadable or private

The only problem I have is sorting out the albums ie A to Z

You can move them around by hand, but do it as you go.....

Or use the collections option, ie collection 1960 to 1969.70 would hold

albums 1960, 1961, 1962 etc.

Looks complicated but if a old pensioner like me can do it...

The only other advice is to prepare the scans, sort & keep on a external hard drive...

Hi

I use both Flickr and Weebly. Flickr is great for viewing images and sharing them quickly. However, I think Weebly is better if you want to go a little deeper and provide more information around programmes that were issued and use it more like a catalogue. I've tried to make my website a thorough guide as to which programmes were issued for which games including information on postponed games etc.

Weebly itself is very easy to use. No technical knowledge needed. You do have the flexibility of writing code if needed and I have found that very easy by using forums and copying and pasting code.

It's free to get going so I'd advise having a play around and see how you get on. I pay for a premium account which gives a few more features like search capability and dropping the weebly adverts and reference in the domain name.
