OK, I mentioned yesterday I had a few 1950's photos with nothing on their backs which I was struggling to identify. There were 5 but I worked out 2 of them yesterday. I am left with 3 and this is the first.

I should point out that most of the photos in this lovely batch were from season 1953/4 and a few were a bit earlier. Can anyone help with the ground and either of the teams, and even the skinny player in the white shirt?

I would greatly appreciate any help please and hope it stimulates some discussion. Once this one has run its course I'll upload the second one.

I'll have a stab at St. Andrew's , Birmingham for the ground and that Brum are the team in the dark shirts. The corner bit of the ground looks familiar from a visit there in the 70s and that's all I'm working from.

Given that they were in the 2nd tier that season then if my guess is correct the most likely opponents are Fulham or Derby. A scan of the historical kits website suggests Fulham had the right shade and design of socks for that pic.

I could of course be 100% wrong! Very Happy

Thanks mcfc56, my first thought was Charlton in the dark shirts, but it could equally be blue - and as well as Birmingham it could be Leicester who wore identical kit for a few years. But maybe it is St Andrews.

As rgds the other team (in white) it could be Tottenham as I don't think the shorts & socks are quite black. But then it could be Bolton or Preston too.

Anyway, it's all speculation unless someone can identify the players.

Thanks again.

This is St Andrews, Ken Green is 3 - we don't know who the other Blues player is but it may be Roy Warhurst.

And who is the visiting player, a skinny winger? Derby, Spurs, Bolton, Fulham, Preston?

All help much appreciated please. Thank you.

Cheers Bazza - Blues v Derby 20th March 1954 Div 2 - fits perfectly into the likely date range.
