Bearing in mind the probable outcome of No 1 in this series (which looks 99% certain to be Birmingham at home) this one, to me, looks like the Blues again with the oppo probably Arsenal and I'd go as far as saying No 9 could be Pete Goring.

So could the No 3 be Ken Green again and the bloke jumping (presumably that's a No 5) would be Trevor Smith?

Only other question - venue. St Andrews, Highbury or another ground and if so, why?

Number 5 is Trevor Smith Ken Green did not play v Arsenal in 1955/6 but both played in 1956/7 + 57/8 v Arsenal

So it's Ken Green & Trevor Smith and the thinking now is it's against Rotherham or maybe Plymouth in Div 2, 1953/4/5.

And it's not St Andrews.

So is it Home Park or Millmoor? Can anyone help on that, please?

I would say Birmingham v Rotherham 1953/4 season Green + Smith are listed as numbers 3+5 also at St Andrews.. The Union Jack flag flew in the corner of the Spion Kop all that season to commemorate the Queens Coronation in 1953.

Just to confirm the opponents are definitely not Arsenal. They never wore numbers on white panels after the war, it was white numbers straight on the backs of the shirts.

Thanks again Bazza, you know far more about the history of Birmingham City FC than the Blues fan who wants these photos from me!

But maybe he's only half our age!

And thanks to Goonak, I also wondered about the patch on the backs and was scrabbling about looking for a similar shot of the Gooners in action.

So my thanks to you all. I'll put a few more up soon.
