See picture number two on the following link, taken from League Football/FLR no.704 from 1972.

Roger Cleveland, Norman Lovett & Gordon Wright all get a mention - Are they still around?

Has anyone got any interesting stories about the British Programme Club?

I used to be a member of the BPCC but fell out with them when they refused to recognise the grey official media guide/programme I brought back from the 1977 European Cup Final. They were trying to say that the irritating Manchester Programme Shop issue (which has since been reprinted) was the official issue and was available from them at a reasonable price! Sad

The early years of the bulletins were informative and interesting, which was ideal for a young collector, but eventually it seemed to evolve into nothing more than a dealers catalogue.

At the same time Rev David Wiseman from Poulton Le Fylde had set up Football Programme Directory which was much more interesting. He passed the reigns onto Owen Barnes who seemed to have a running vendetta against Norman Lovett. He referred to The BPCC as "Lovett's Lottery"!! This was also at the same time as David Stacey was offering blatant reprints of big matches (1966 WCF, 1960 ECF etc)

I think the FPD evolved into Programme Monthly ran by John Litster Smile

Thank you for the response Jim

Wonder what happened to the three chaps in question then? I assume they are not on the programme 'scene' now?

Given that this was 43 years ago they may not be on any 'scene' now

Sad

I've got a couple of BPCC books somewhere which I'll try and scan onto a separate post.... Smile
