On March 30th 2012 the community share scheme was launched by Pompey to the general public. The club was on its knees.

Three years on a very positive financial statement has just been issued.
Some figures in the accounts jump out:

An operating profit of £118,000.
The club debt was dramatically slashed from £14 million to £5 million. We now know of course that it was cleared completely later in 2014.

These accounts tell a deeper story than just a couple of headline figures, for example, the acquisition of a training ground.

They also show the scale of work needed just to keep the stadium fit to live in and they give a hint to the amount of work needed to improve every other sector of the match day experience and to bring in extra revenue.

Now permanently free of "rich" owners / Managers who only have their own interests at heart, the Club has a bright future.

Every credit and thanks to those who have worked so hard to bring the Club so far in a short space of time.

We may be in League 2 but the Club has a bright future and is now a credit to the Football League.

Play up Pompey.

Easy

I've been to Portsmouth a few times as an away supporter and always been impressed by the level and consistency of the vocal support given to the team (similar to what we see at Palace these days)

Good luck for the future!

Every credit to all those involved, and all the hard work invested, in turning Pompey's fortunes around. Clap

It gives hope for us all in similar situations, although in our case we are not actually in debt, which makes our demise a very bitter pill to swallow.

Afters Pompey's experience you would have thought clubs would have learnt the lesson.....sadly it doesn't seem to be the case....QPR could be next.....relegation awaits unless by some miracle they can turn it around......up next comes the football league fine.......possible points deduction.......transfer embargo......fire sale of players.......I wouldn't wish "doing a Pompey" on anyone......specially if their very existence is threatened....... And that includes our fierce neighbours along the coast. As already mentioned the "good" ship Pompey has been saved and is finally heading in the right direction......on and off the pitch......more has been done to improve the infrastructure by the trust in the short period "we" have owned the club then in all the years gone by! Guess what we have our own training ground in the city and no longer use the one in......wait for it.........Southampton! Now that's a real improvement!!! Clap
