I am looking for some advice on a piece of memorabilia i am seriously thinking of selling, it`s Harold Hardman`s F A Cup Winners medal from the 1906 Cup Final, the obvious thing to do is put it up for auction, but i am also open about doing a private deal with anyone that`s interested, this way there isn`t any commission to pay by anyone, i wonder if the club have any interest in purchasing items from their history, please can any Everton collector on this forum or anyone else let me know their thoughts

I'd auction it. Get in touch with local newspapers for publicity. See if they'll do a story. There is the Everton collection which I believe has charity statues. So probably looking for donations rather than buying. I don't think clubs give a toss about their history if it'll cost them money.

hi, my name is Robert Adcock from sporting memorys auctions, based in Birmingham

yes it is possible to get a private buyer, however I can say that can be false economy

how do you get in touch with a serious buyer?

how do you know if the offer made is the correct price?

I can almost guarantee that it worth paying 10 % commission in order to get the best price available. for instance one of the biggest buyers is in the usa, doesn't get beaten on f a cup final medals at the moment

if I can help my next auction is in august, perfect timing for you, please vist www.sportingmemorys.com

or call 0121 684 8282

If I was lucky enough to have something like that to sell the I would auction every time...

But the press angle is definitely something you should do...

Just do us a favour and post a picture on here before it goes into some yanks investment vault:)

One of the most amazing things I ever came across was one day when I walked into my (then ) bosses office and he had a box from Sotheby's ( I think)

Being nosey I asked what it was and he told me to take a look...inside was Henry Coopers Lonsdale belt which he had just bought anonymously...I asked how much he had paid and was shocked when he told me ( about 60K as I recall) ...

the old softie looked at me and said..." Yeah but think what it will be worth when he dies!"

I saw Dick Malone Sunderland cup winner in William Hills today. I should have made him an offer for his medal. I'm sure he would have told me where to go. Laughing In fact I never mention the cup final if I see any of the players. My thinking is they must be sick to death talking about it . In the same way they say George Harrison was a friendly chatty bloke, until you mentioned The Beatles...

Here`s a picture of Harold`s medal, Everton won the F A Cup for the first time in 1906, defeating Newcastle Utd, Harold also had a long involvement with Manchester Utd, playing for them and eventually becoming chairman

What a stunning item..I would imagine £7,000 min ???

Theres a 27 final shirt at Graham Budds this month, I feel the club should buy it but doubt they will...lovely item though.
