80's press photos

[Pete’s Picture Palace]

The other day I wrote that 80's (and later) press photos weren't up to much and the art of photography was dying in the digital age.

I've recently got hold of 2 photos from 1984 and while they aren't worth a lot monetarily they are both excellent photos and worthy of display here. It's coincidental that both involve the Villa.

Birmingham v Aston Villa, March 84. Howard Gayle salutes fans after scoring the winning goal. Great crowd scene.



West Ham v Aston Villa, May 84. Dave Swindlehurst (very nearly totally airborne) upside down surrounded by 3 Villa defenders. Superb action.

And it certainly helps that they're both in good old monochrome.

Colour photography? Fine for family snapshots and sunsets by the beach...but not for football.

Harford,coton,Blake,Dennis,.....oh and Hopkins.....what a group


My question, when you upload photos to the site, can you do it from an iPad?
