Yes Dangerman, the estimated price is correct. Always seen it at the £110-£175 mark, and that was a few years ago, and won't be surprised if it went higher than the estimate.

A mate of mine sold his for £1000 about 4 years ago and I sold one for £300 some time before that. it was about the time the Russians were going barmy for programmes. i reckon this will go for about £150 + costs.

Just seen this Matt, can't believe that. I went to this auction about a year ago and complete rubbish went for very good prices. they must have had some bids in already, hence the hike. I was hoping to get this for a decent price.

Why do Auction Houses bother with estimates? If there is a reserve then only show that.

I would rather they spent the time providing a full and accurate description for us bedroom bandits who cannot afford the bus fare to get to the viewing.

A prospective buyer will put their own value on a lot and bid up to that figure.

We have all seen items with low estimates go for loads and vice versa.

Just as an aside this programme surprisingly didn't sell, or maybe unsurprisingly given the auction house's estimate.

Originally it was ousted by them as an estimate of £140-160' then within a week the estimate was show as £1400-1800! I went there and the programme was god but not perfect with a few rips etc.

On the day, the bidding opened at £1500!' Which was quickly reduced to £1000' still no takers......then £700. The auctioneer seemed to focus on the fact that only 3 Cardiff fans went to the game. But surel they could have brought back 100 copies each? Then he says he has a bud with him to start at £480' which I presume was the reserve. Still no takers so they passed on to the next lot. Apparently the vendor is putting in the next auction again, probably having had his expectations raised by the auction house.

Following this , and at the last moment, a Cardiff v Real Madrid Programme and ticket sold fir £40+ add one. So £49.60 for a programme I struggle to sell for a fiver, although to be fair the ticket is worth a fiver too.
Tony
