I received this message from eBay - has anybody else received something similar and what does it actually mean?
Hello Andy,
Thanks for consistently delivering exceptional service to your buyers. We're here to provide you a marketplace where you can sell with confidence. That's why we've taken the following steps during the past month to protect your account:
•Upgraded 9 of your detailed seller rating(s) to five stars
We've already updated your seller dashboard to reflect these changes, which are for transactions made during the past year. When we remove transaction defects, your transaction defect rate may not go down if you had transactions that received more than one defect.
We'll continue to improve our monitoring, detection systems and policies to protect sellers like you. To see these updates, go to your Seller Dashboard .

I haven`t sold on Ebay for a while so can`t help you regarding your message.
It almost sounds like a hoax. Why would Ebay want to (effectively) leave Star Ratings for sellers. Surely only buyers can do that?
I wouldn`t even entertain the idea that Ebay are so desperate for sales that they are now discarding their most sacred and basic operating fundamentals? |

I've not had that one, but I've had one something about the Global Shipping Programme, whatever that is! _________________ |

I should have included that the message wasn't via e-mail, it was via the messages tab on 'My eBay'... _________________ Andy |

It means if you're posting abroad to an overseas buyer, the seller pays the full international postage charges to Ebay but you invoice the buyer as if it were a UK address and charge accordingly for UK postage. The address on the Paypal payment gives a reference number and a UK address for an industrial estate/business park to send it to.
Quite handy actually but the cynic in me tells me Ebay isn't doing it for our benefit... |

I also received a similar message.
This is an extract from Ebay which should go some way to explaining what it is about.
Our team is on the clock 24/7 to keep an eye out for bad buyer behaviour. And they’re faithfully backed by large-scale automated detection systems that monitor millions of transactions every day.
We automatically remove negative or neutral Feedback and low Detailed Seller Ratings when:
We know that a buyer consistently leaves neutral or negative Feedback or low Detailed Seller Ratings which are inconsistent with sellers’ overall performance.
We identify that a buyer is trying to get an unauthorised refund or avoid paying for a return.
We stop suspended buyers from returning by identifying linked accounts or aliases.
We protect thousands of sellers behind the scenes, every month. In your new Seller Dashboard, you can have a look to keep track of how many times we’ve protected your account. |

Ebay is getting more complicated.
I have sent three parcels this week to ARGOS for collection by a buyer.
And my letter today off them.
Listings missing item specifics:
Use the bulk editing tool on eBay.co.uk to update: 5,680 listings (4,000 new)
Consider entering the recommended item specifics so that when buyers select these item specifics as search filters, your listing will appear in their search results.
Update photos increase selling chances by up to 6%
Use the bulk editing tool on eBay.co.uk to update: 8,169 listings (8,166 new)
Buyers love large, high quality photos that clearly show the item, so please upload photos that meet these standards. We've provided guidelines in the bulk editing tool.
Listings that don't qualify for eBay Premium Service, which is important to buyers when they shop on eBay:
Use the bulk editing tool on eBay.co.uk to update: 8,268 listings (8,265 new)
Having the eBay Premium Service badge tells buyers that you consistently deliver outstanding customer experiences. To receive this badge on your listings, as well as the added benefits of your Top- rated seller status, please update your listings according to the guidelines we've provided in the bulk editing tool. |

Bonkers. I have something to sell, hopefully someone out there wants to buy it. Why does E Bay make something so simple, so difficult? |

probably so they (and PayPal) can justify the rather large fees (as a %) that they charge, for actually doing very little - and even less when you have a problem, query and some idiot buyer chancing their arm... _________________ Andy |

Thanks for clearing up the confusion. Now it makes sense (unusually for Ebay) for them to protect sellers against buyers with poor track records.
Cheers |

they arent. Im getting rediculous quotes for items from USA and then a massive import tax on top. Makes it really not worth it at all and makes me think of putting my postal rates up to america |
