Hi Everyone
Does anyone know anything about the type of badge that is on Ebay at the moment - is it old, rare or just a bit unusual

Thanks

Bernie

Quite common in the 1970s. Plastic inserts on many different backgrounds in this case the FAC.

Looked at as poor quality at the time but are now more collectable.

As Les rightly says, the 1970s 'Insert' badges are extremely collectable these days.

They are entirely of their time and rather tacky in truth, but they're certainly not without their charm either.

The Newport County versions are extremely sought and realise surprisingly high prices on eBay - you'll rarely get a Newport one for under a tenner, and I've seen some shapes go for as much as £50 or more.

I often get a tad jealous when I see other clubs insert badges go for peanuts. Very Happy

Such is the competition for them, I've only got around 15 different versions, a few examples of which are attached ...

I bought them outside Selhurst Park up until about 1990. They were £1 each, whereas enamel badges were £2 each or 3 for a fiver.

Wish I'd bought more of everything then really.

I had loads of these badges but traded them in many years ago to fund my programme collection.

The badges have increased considerably in price whereas a lot of the programmes are worth much less.
