Does the apearance of a sponsor on your clubs new shirt make a difference in the decision whether to buy it or not.

There is a huge debate up here over our new kit.

General consensus is that most people are more than happy with the actual design, (although it does have shades of Stoke City about it). Laughing

Many have stated that its the best we've had for years.

However, there are a number of supporters who believe the shirt has been ruined by the sponsors logo's. They don't have a problem with the sponsor, after all the firm have been good enough to put money into the club, its just the way that basically they are ironed on patches, which tend to start peeling off before half way through the season. back of the shirt sponsors transfers come in for even more stick

Nowadays, this seems to be the penchant for football kit suppliers, iron on transfers, the badge too, which I assume must be cheaper to produce. They used to be integrated into the shirt, like rugby and cycling tops.

Personally, I would have bought it my two, but I don't think I'll bother now. Sad

You may or not be bothered about a new shirt, they do appear to be more popular with the younger generation, but do any of you out there love your club's new shirt but believe its been ruined with this type of practice?
Confused

there has been a bit of debate amongst our lot this season over having a 'claims' company sponsoring us this season...thankfully our badge is still stitched into the shirt as opposed to a badge stitched on although it amazes me what people will nit pick over when there is no football to debate.

You have a point about the Stoke shirt and its a theme that does seem to be creeping in - the re-use of shirt designs further down the food chain over the period of a couple of seasons.

Thankfully there aren't any 'BIG' clubs that wear blue n white halves Thumbs Up

I would think the bigger problem is the branding of the shirt makers and they fact they are controling the design and look of shirts, moving them away from their traditional identity. The new West Brom shirt is laughable, no way on earth would you see them running on to the pitch and know that they were West Brom.

Closer up it's even worse, the sponsor's banner and the Adidis branding completly take the eye, the is hardly room for the club's logo.

I've not bought a club shirt since sponsors took over. If companies want me to advertise for them they pay me. If they did that the cost to them would be at least £100 a month so why would I pay them ?

We have had some very good designs lately sharrow, but totally ruined by having WONGA emblazened across the front.

I still buy one though to keep uptodate with my collection of shirts over the last 30 years or so.

I don't tend to wear replica shirts very often, unlike when I was younger, so I usually wait until they are about to change design and pick one up when they are vastly reduced. Size then doesn't matter, just the need to obtain an example of the shirt.

It was a curse for their ladies team Pete, their matches were always bad tempered affairs.
