Hmmmmmm..............interesting as you say - a bit worrying from my perspective.

What was wrong with the reserve leagues and also the Academy system?

'Sandwiching' in a league will just push established non-league clubs further down meaning (possibly) lower crowds and the ensuing financial problems............

I watched the FA Youth Cup Final last night and was very impressed by the skills and passion of the youngsters on show - why change something that appears to be working.

To me, this just looks like the FA trying to look pro-active, in case the World Cup goes wrong, when there is no real need IMHO. (This fact is mentioned in the text of the article).

A veritable crock of shite that has nothing at all to do with helping the national side, but more to do with bringing on the Premier League sides younger players. STOP BUYING SO MANY FOREIGN PLAYERS. They just don't get it, do they?

Oh dear...............

I don't think this has been thought through very carefully.

A B division sandwiched between League 2 and the Conference. No

A regionalised amalagation of League 2, Conference and B teams. No

The only plus side would be that I may get on some new grounds but as we ditched our reserve side a couple of seasons ago I doubt we would bother with a B side (unless of course it was compulsory).

B teams in the league set-up is a reasonable idea, Germany, Spain and Czech Republic are three nations that spring to mind who have this. Portugal I think as well.

How they shoehorn them into an existing structure is where the problems start.

Well said............

Its all about money & the premiership.....as usual !!!!

If these players are any good, chuck them in the 1st team but ya too scared you might lose......nipper from Utd scored 2 goals last night !!!

Dont stop the aspirations of the lower teams

Next thing they will want is no relegation.......

This has resurfaced,I heard it a few years ago about Rangers and Celtic. A piece of nonsense. It's just reserve teams in a different league,I don't know what their angle is but I know that all but the top clubs will get mugged.

Total crap.

Would Greg Dyke have come up with that if Brentford were in League Two?

That's me gone from football if that happens.

It certainly doesn't work in Germany. No one watches the "B" teams, they bring zero support to away games and distort the structure of the lower leagues.

Since this season we had also the u21 teams from Ajax, PSV and Twente in the Dutch championship but it didn't work.
Approx 300 people came to watch their matches, a lot of away fans from the regular teams did boycot those away matches.
They all ended at near bottom table.

The Dutch FA unfortunately is statisfied about this "project" but it really sucks.
Ajax for example used nearly 50 players last season!

Garbage idea.
Further evidence that the rapacious numbskulls who run the game haven't the slightest interest in anything outside the Premier League.

A side-effect of this will be for the current version of the Old Firm to push for entry into the English league system.

Mark my words.

I suppose it depends what you define as "doesn't work"

Germany are a far superior International side than England, does the inclusion of B teams in their league set-up have any effect on this? not seen any data on that. Same applies to Spain.

The plans are part of FA chairman Greg Dyke's commission looking at ways to improve the national team's fortunes.

A word in your ear Greg.........

'The young british players are not playing in the 1st team because
1. there not good enough
2 Too many foreign players

simples

An interesting fact on sky the other night....Chelsea who have won 3 of the last 5 youth cup finals....
Only 3 had made the 1st team and only a handful of appearances between them.

Why.
Compare that to any Div 1 or 2 team where half the team come through the ranks........(before they get lured to the big teams)

Hopefully that will never happen especially if the Scottish people vote to go their own way.

There is no way the Old Firm will play in England, more likely that The Rangers will go bust again. But that's a totally different topic.

Well I,m certain the conference woundn,t vote for this.....

What about promotion / relegation issues ?

But it would be great to watch the 'B' players from the premiership getting a good kicking.......

What's next......want their own referees???

How this will help the England team I dont know.....

Arguably the most hare-brained idea to come out from the suits for a long time. They would be quite happy to mess up the structure of the pyramid on the belief that this would somehow bring future success for the England team. The Football League chairman, Greg Clarke described the purpose of Dyke's England commission as "laudable." actually I believe it should have read "laughable."
A proper reserve league with the necessary suitable restrictions would surely be the way for up and coming players to gain experience?
The obvious question is why are there so many foreign players in the upper reaches of the League. It does not take a genius to answer that ! A phased reduction on the limit of the number at each club would then force the clubs to encourage and develop home talent.

I think these proposals are symptomatic of football's perverted thinking, rather then stopping destructive behaviour they skirt around the real issue.

More likely it will erode the lower end of English football.

How about tougher sanctions in the Premier league?
