Although I trade in football memorabilia I only really seek to collect one type of item. That's testimonial programmes.

But I'm finding it very hard to get any for my club that I don't have. In fact I've not seen any for years now. This has led me to slip in and out of other things and buy things more for a profit then anything else. I don't like that, I want to get back my collectors sense of fun and pleasure, I want to have a defined collection, take it out and admire it for what it is and I want to feel the frill of finding something I've not got or been looking for.

So I'm thinking of collecting football medals. The are some really nice one and you don't have to pay a lot, silver one for £10 maybe. But from their the path seems endless and each one has a great history not on form the player who won it but the event that awarded it.

First step - find out if anyone has some experiance and can give any advice on what to look for. Although at first I'm going for ones I like the design of because I won't be paying more then £25 at time.

Anyone ?

No not really interested in those as I want to take "investment" out of the equation.

Just has a quick glance at eBay and £25 seems the minimum going rate. A lot seem to be well over priced . After all, they really should be only worth the scrap value of the metal in most cases. As a experienced dealer no doubt you know other avenues other than eBay. Could be a interesting pastime. Good luck.

I collect some medals and agree there are some very pretty designs. I think they are a bit of a bargain myself. A pre-war club badge may sell for £50 or £100. Whereas a pre-war silver medal is probably only £10 - £20 or so
