I have seen a few members mention that they have used Weebly to build a website. I have never built a website but I am looking to do one.

Weebly is attractive as it has a free version but that raises a few questions, for example:

Does it work and is it stable?
How user friendly is the free version for a novice?
How much webspace do you get for free?
Is it OK with photos?
Can you get advice with the free version if you get stuck?

There are probably a load more questions but if members can answer the above and give me any other pointers then that would be a great start.

With thanks in anticipation, Martin

Nice one! The secret is out. I will get Messi playing and then sit back and have loads of spare time to work on the website.

Hi Martin

I've not used other editors but have found Weebly very easy to use and it is very easy to pick up.

Does it work and is it stable?
Yes, never had any issues with site availability in the 12 months I've been using it.

How user friendly is the free version for a novice?
Very easy. It all works from templates and drag & drop tools. No coding needed. My site has all been built using this functionality and hasn't needed any bespoke coding.

How much webspace do you get for free?
Webspace is unlimited, but you are restricted by the size of individual files that you can upload. Limit for the free version is 10Mb per file and pro version limit is 250Mb per file.

Is it OK with photos?
Not tried with photos but all my programme scans look good Wink Guess the issue will be the size of your photos and whether 10Mb is enough per image. The photo gallery options are reasonably good. I've used galleries on the League pages of my website if you like to see one in action.

Can you get advice with the free version if you get stuck?
Yes, there is a decent enough help site and you can submit specific questions directly to Weebly support. They have always responded quickly to my questions whether that was free or since I've turned pro! And you can also ask the Weebly users on this forum Smile

Handy review at this link:

And there are some example live sites that have been built with Weebly here:

Hope this helps,

Andy

I tried god knows how many free site builers with no luck untill I found Weebly.
I had no idea about site builing a site it had to be easy and Weebly is very easy.
I have had my site for 2 years now and had no problems so far.
I have about 3,000 pics and scans on it again with no problems.
As for their help/advice I have never needed any so can't comment on that.

Hope this helps, Jamie.

Thanks for the quick replies and the information. Sounds good. I will give it a go as my "Project" for the coming autumn / winter.

I have used Weebly to build my website and have had no problems. It's really easy to use and looks good and it's free.

You can pay to have various extras but to be honest the free version does all I need.

My collection is currently around 2,800 programmes and I've almost finished scanning in and uploading them all so it can certainly handle a lot of pics.

Any questions on Weebly use just ask me.

That's really impressive!

70/1 Oxford v Wolves LC - can't imagine Ron Atkinson playing as a left-winger.

If you want any scans of post-war Wolves H/A against Derby, let me know.
