Hi everyone,

Sorry that this is probably in the wrong place, but I was wondering if anybody could help me;

I'm a young graphic designer and have always been a big follower of Colchester United, going everywhere and collecting millions of programmes and so on.

I'd love to get into designing matchday programmes as editorial design is something I'm really keen on, but it's tough trying to get anywhere without having a programme to be able to show if you know what I mean!

I didn't know if there were any non-league programme editors on here or anything who would be interested in working with me on their programmes?

Examples of my work can be found here at my site: www.duplexity.co.uk
I'd love to get in touch with anyone who could possibly point me in the right direction.

Many thanks!

Some nice work there. Well done Smile

I am a Sports Journalist at University (First Year), So I am similar in a way, would love to find some club that would let me write an article in their programmes.

Nice portfolio dedwardp,

Do you do much web design work and do you just do designs or coding aswell? I could have some work for you if your interested - email me at [email protected] with some samples of your work and your rates if your interested.

Regarding both of you finding work, i dont think there are that many non league collectors on here, let alone editors. Ive seen a few editors over on Tony Kempsters non league prediction league forum though so it could be worth you both posting messages over there at http://www.nonleaguematters.co.uk/forum/gforum.cgi?forum=24;guest=29814572

Best of luck to you both.
Craig

There is someone on here who is the editor of the Buckie Thistle matchday programme and has been doing it for about 10 years now, his id on the site is MAY DAY AT WICK. He may be able to help.

Thanks Craig,

Although I work primarily on the designs I can do quite a bit of coding too, whilst I also have a contact who's extremely skilled at the extremely top end stuff so I'll drop you an email!

Thanks for the link too. My father seems to have posted in the past as me which isn't good; his spelling looks awful, oh dear haha Confused

Have you tried contacting the club you support and asking if they would be interested in a column - try to suggest one or two ideas and keep them relevant e.g topical international football matters/ league round-up/spotlight on former players.

Forest had a trainee journalist do a programme column for two years, although, admittedly, he was a former trainee player (never made it past reserves, then joined PFA sports journo course at Staffs Uni, now a journo on a regional daily somewhere)
But now have another trainee journalist doing a regular column who I don't believe is connected to the club.

The downside is it is the wrong time of year to get involved as teams are well into the season and most programme templates are set up, offering much the same content easch issue.

(I'm a full-time news journo, who dabbles in sport, so just ask if you want anything else)

Contacted Rushden earlier today. Will see if anything comes from that shortly. Even fanzines would be a start for me. Anything to show that I am writing stuff Smile Rushden don't do one now though, so I'm looking into other clubs for that as well.
