1978 Ipswich Town 1-0 Arsenal . Goalscorer Brian Osborne was so overcome by emotion he had to be substituted shortly after scoring
West Ham United (in second division) 1-0 Arsenal. Biggest shock was a Trevor Brooking headed winner |

I had a few quid on Wigan. Hardly a major upset when you think about it. I mean no one expected City to win 5 or 6 nil did they? It was never going to be a walk over. But Swansea League cup winners and Wigan FA Cup winners, a shot in the arm for the game. Money isn't everything. |

The Sunderland Final of 1973 was memorable for Jim Montgomerys super double save, and Bob Stokoes celebration after the match.
The Wimbledon win memorable for Dave Beasants penalty save.
Todays unexpected win has breathed some life back into the old Trophy! |

Recall Portsmouth beating odds on favs Wolves long time ago , or dosen't that count has football only started with the Gread League in 92. _________________ "Some people say Wolves best days are gone i prefer to think the best are yet to come" Derek Dougan on joining Wolves from Leicester City 1967. |

Probably nostalgia at work - but Sunderland 1973 for me.
The Montgomery double save, Stokoe's hat - and Bremner's prune-like face at the final whistle
Thought City went into today's game looking like they were playing for a consolation prize at best. No - I won't mince my words - they felt it beneath them. There was a hint of bored arrogance through the entire team.
Wigan, on the other hand, well........just hope they can somehow avoid the drop.
Is Mancini on his way? Who cares - if he is, he'll make a packet in compo anyway. _________________ http://www.flickr.com/photos/derby1884/sets/ |

I think City will now find, whoever the manager is , a group of players on massive wages, long contracts, no passion and impossible to shift on. It's not all about money. |

I can't imagine what it must be like to know that, no matter how well or badly you do your job, the sum of £400,000 (less tax) will be in your offshore investment account come the end of the month. Every month.
For some players, that will be a side-issue - but for others, it's the be-all and end-all. And that's the difference between United and City. One has more of the former, the other more of the latter.
Just so glad Wigan did 'em in the end. _________________ http://www.flickr.com/photos/derby1884/sets/ |

Congratulations to Wigan.........
javascript:emoticon(' ')
City were poor at best, just proves to me that apart from United all the other teams in the premier are much the same.
Even United failed in europe
Best league in the world........don't think so
Lets hope Wigan get the points needed to stay up......... _________________ RESPECT..................
