Technical query

On the off chance someone here is an IT wizard.

My monitor has a built-in webcam which I've never used but need to now...downloaded the drivers etc but it can't find the hardware.
When I look under "device manager", the webcam has a yellow triangle next to it and, under properties, the message:

Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

Phoned Dell up but they won't look at it without me forking out about £50 - I'm hoping it's something simple like I need another cable (wouldn't have thought so). Probably be cheaper to buy a bog-standard new one and just install that, though.

Anyone any ideas?

Did your computer come with any software CD's? If so maybe try running them and re-installing any webcam software

Alternatively find your make of computer and type it into google followed by the words webcam error, you might be surprised how much info there is!

Thanks - seems like plenty people before me have had the same problem. Seems to be that one of the USB controllers has packed in. Cheaper to buy a new webcam!
