Post subject: Ebay - Listing pulled

Hi

got home today to see one of my listings was pulled on a programme I was selling. It stated that the intellectual property rights owner has complained that the item I was selling was counterfeit.

Firstly it isnt and secondly how the FUCK does he know when all he has is a picture of the programme to go by.

needless to say I have complained to Ebay and to the email they provided for this wanker at Manchester United. There were no links or pictures of club crests in my listing and was purely just text explaining the programme and the condition so dont know what he is going on about. Anyone else had this problem. I did bother speaking to anyone at ebay just emailed as I am miffed that my compliance score has been affected and from previous attempts to speak to ebay customer services was like talking to a potty full of shit.

I am angry and am off to calm down a bit, however any insight into your experiences would be much appreciated Scouse

I was bidding on a badge the other week that got pulled, I can understand that as I don't think it was official (it didn't have Man Utd on it though!)

Can't understand why a prog from 1969 got pulled - it's not like Man U are losing money from it, or like they're going to suddenly reproduce it and sell a shed load of them.

I like how you are presumed guilty without any investigation taking place first. It seems to be an internet trait acceptable in the USA.

Same thing happened to me yesterday over a bog standard Man U. home programme from the 1960s.

I didn't get as wound up as you though Rafe as I knew it must have been some kind of mistake.

In fact I don't hold much faith in compliance ratings, feedback and seller ratings as I pointed out in another thread yesterday where a top rated seller can have over 300 negatives in 12 months.

Anyway I wrote to the Man U. chap in the e-mail E-bay provided and this was the reply

"Many thanks for your email.

We operate an online brand protection programme to ensure that sites such as eBay remain a place for the sale of genuine Manchester United product. Unfortunately, due to the volume of Manchester United product on eBay and the volume of takedowns we handle, occasionally errors such as this may happen.

We are working with eBay to reinstate your listing which should take effect shortly.

Regards

Brand Protection"

Yesterday was obviously one of those occasional days when some over zealous Brand Protection jobsworth took down a load of Man U. programmes in addition to copyright and counterfeit stuff.

Ouch. I am confused.

Would they also try and stop Man Utd items being sold at auction?
A long story but I tried to get a soccer item stopped from being auctioned as I knew it had been "lifted" from my Uncle's house by a decorator but the auction house said they would only pull the lot if I gave them a Police crime number.

Yes, Man U. appear to be at the forefront of brand protection and they apparently have a dedicated team solely dealing with copyright issues, sale of counterfeit items etc not just on e-bay but via all outlets globally.

I have however heard of other clubs who have had items pulled from E-bay due to logo issues.

Even Blackpool clamped down on some privately produced items of clothing when we had our season in the Prem.

I got the exact same response myself today from Manchester United. Still have nothing sorted on the Ebay side of things though.

They obviously make a lot of errors to have a word for word email prepared for the many occasions these morons make these errors.

I am completely pissed off with the arrogance of big clubs and the arse's they employ. I have had many run ins with Rangers. The players and the manager always pay tribute to the fans and it's a load of bollocks, they are just bumping their gums to keep you sweet so that they can continue dipping your pockets when in reality these dicks just see the fans as a necessary evil. One of the Man Utd boys asked me to get a team sheet which meant I had to kiss the ass of a guy at the main door and a dour woman with a face that could stop a clock or I wouldn't have got it. While I was waiting I got an autograph off an ex-Rangers striker,by the look on his face you'd think I asked the cunt for a kidney.

Reading this thread I am so glad I follow a team that will never get near the prem.
The more I hear about the big clubs the more I hate them and the Prem.
Money, money, money. Give us your money. That is modern football at the top now. F**k you the, fan. we don't give a toss.

Feel sorry for the true fans of these clubs as they are getting ripped of so a few people can make fortunes.

I've started to go and watch some local non league football and for atmosphere entertainment and fun you can go and stick the premier league tarts where the sun don't shine.

I've seen players get cleaned out bounce back up off the floor and carry on playing, there is non of this diving on the ground and doing 6-7 rolls whilst grabbing a leg acting like you have just sliced it with a chainsaw.

I've seen refs blow for a dubious decision and the players shrug their shoulders and get on with it there is none of this running 50 metres to hurl abuse at the ref or wave imaginary cards in the refs face.

I've seen an opposing teams goalie enjoy some really good lighthearted banter with fans, they were asking how he conceeded so many goals in the last game when he said he didn;t play in that game and had only come down for a swim, he even came over after the game and shook a few fans hands, there was no foul language from either party and no one felt intimidated

I went and saw one of the non league showpiece finals at Wembley with prices of £15 for adults and £5 for kids, great atmosphere, shame Tunbridge Wells lost but congrats to Spennymoor, some of the Spennymoor fans where entertaining on the train to Wembley.

The standard of play is not as bad as what you think at non league level and to be honest the standard of officiating is probably the same if not better than premier league level, when my nephew is older i'd happily take him to as many non league games as possible (as well as ice hockey games obviously) and be able to say to him "THIS IS PROPER FOOTBALL"

So United are still hundreds of Millions of pounds in debt and keep being able to sign new players and they also have a team (Probably well paid) to make sure that no one copies their copyrighting by selling unofficial items relating to the club?

yet when you complain to Ebay that people are selling cup final tickets they do sweet FA about it
(Cup final tickets for an up coming game, not one that has already taken place)
