I have the attached photograph. On the reverse it says "Bradford v Barnsley Saturday 19th January 1946"

The records do not show this match. The nearest I can get is an F A Cup fifth round second leg played on 13th February 1946, although, of course, it may have been a friendly played on 19th January.

Anyway can anyone confirm if this looks like Park Avenue in the 1940's? The only real clues are what looks like a white picket fence around the edge and the advertising sign for Arthur Batty Limited. I googled that but got nowhere.

Thanks in anticipation, Martin

Before anyone else tells me, this match did take place on 19th January 1946 - a League North fixture.

However can anyone confirm that this is Park Avenue?

Might be worth sending a PM to Gent - he's a Bradford City fan, but might well know a fair bit about Park Avenue and their old ground.

Barry is correct. and he should know he was 27 when this picture was taken. - Horton Park Bradford Park Avenue

There was a programme for the game.

Arthur Batty Ltd was a local tansport and removals company.
