I noticed on eBay a man utd opus book with a bid for £1800 with the listing stating they originally cost £3k
Can anyone tell me what on earth this is, why they sell out at £3k and if there are similar issues for other clubs?
Confused.com 3 grand! Shocked

Not familiar with these but would`nt say that they are "very rare" if there were 10,000 made..... All in all it looks to me like one of those things that Premiership clubs bring out now and again to scrape the last couple of quid out of loyal fans pockets.......

seem like brilliant items to me if you afford the price tag!

Arsenal also produced an Opus and again the price was in that £2-3 grand price range. There are relatively few printed and they are high quality items in terms of production quality. As with all items the price has slipped away in the last year or two but still in the £1500-2000 range.

They're out of date almost as soon as they're printed though. The Man United ones ended up being 'given away' via competitions on MUTV and The website. as already stated ripping off loyal fans with more money than sense!

I was there when Fergie asked the publisher for two and the guy asked Fergies for £5k!!! Fergie just looked at him and siad "I don't think so laddies, they're gifts!"
Club heirachy then ushered the guy away and kept the two Opus books!!

You'd think being on £4m a year would allow Sir Alex to buy them but obviously not.

I remember seeing the Man Utd one and having a look through it in their club shop (aka megastore). Absolutely huge pages, totally impractical! Very nice item to enjoy, but the price tag was more than 10 times what a superb book could have been produced for.

Much more satisfying to collect the original memorabilia over a lifetime, rather than just have pictures of it. Easy
