Bah! Poncy, mollycoddled modern-day players.
A wee bit of water on the pitch and it's a mass retreat to the comfort of their Twitter accounts.
They ought to read Bert Lister's tale of how he and his Oldham team-mates terrorised the Southport defence on an ice-rink of a pitch back in early '63........"we saw the fear in their eyes - so we went for the jugular!"
That's the way to approach it.
And they won 11-1.

PS - why don't we get any players called Bert any more?

The pitch might have been fit for swimming or water polo, and that's it. It was ankle deep outside, it took until Thursday for my trainers to dry (which I had to wear on wednesday as I only took one pair!!)
