I realise that Accrington progs from that season are hard to come by, with homes being pricey. But how much should I be looking to pay for aways. Some dealers have a few at £25 and £30 and others for about £7.50. My reasoning is that dealers have high prices and these should be obtained for less, am I right? I feel another collecting area coming on!

Some 15 years ago I sold the Crewe away (their last game) for £60.
So that one may be worth more now.
And sold a couple of homes a wee while back for £50 the pair.
Neither were in great condition.

From the dim and distant past, I can vaguely recollect that the Darlington away is the most common one for that season.

Hope that's of at least some help.

Steve

Hi Tony,

THeir last away game of the season was meant to be at Millwall - there was no programme printed as they had finished some time before that.

I would assume that most other games, after their demise, would not have had a print run either.

Steve,
Out of interest, do you know if there was one printed for the game after the Crewe one you sold?

Dealer's prices. Of course dealer's prices will be higher than what you can probably get them for on ebay, they do have to make a living at the end of the day, so aren't going to sell them at what they pay for them.

I've been buying Accrington homes and a few aways in preparation for the Stanley Fair last week, and picked up most of the homes for between £4.99 and £9.99. I had a minimum of £10 on them at the fair, which ain't a great mark up when postage is taken into account, but good to have a decent display of Stanley homes for my back boards.

Before the fair started I bought a 61-2 Stanley home from one of the dealers for £15. It's on ebay now with a bid against it of £29.99. You'll find it nigh on impossible to get a Stanley 61-2 home for less than £30 anywhere. On the same basis, I bought Bradford City vs Stanley 61-2 for £3 a few weeks beforehand and sold it for £7.50 on the day. Wouldn't normally buy Stanley aways but this one again was for the backboards.

It shouldn't be too difficult to build up a smallish collection of Stanley homes from ebay if you keep control of your bids and don't go daft.

Thanks for the replies. I see the Stanley homes vary in price with some Buy It Now on Ebay at £49.99, too much for me. There was a tracnche of about 7 Stanley 61/2 aways on Ebay last night, they went pretty high in my opinion at between £9 and £18, which i thought was too high. The games were at Barrow, Oldham, Rochdale, Hartlepools, Bradford City and a few others. A different seller sold the Darlington at £4, with only one bid. So maybe I'll start looking at getting them at a reasonable price.

It'll just add to my strange collecting interests, mainly Cardiff, but also Merthyr, Barry, Bridgend, Lovells, Llanelly and Stirling Albion.

Thanks again for the advice.
