A photo I'll never forget taking back in 1979..........simply because, 10 seconds after doing so, I looked down to find a rat crawling out of a hole in the terracing wondering what I was up to!

It sniffed around for a minute or so then scampered away.

Could be - there's not much left of the lowish stand if it was - that's for sure. Open terrace mostly and one mini-stand.

Is that the same stand as the photo below I took all those years ago?
Looks like it.
They must have just gone out of the league at that point.

Yes same stand, your original photo is the terracing to left of picture opposit main stand.
The "new" stand was built 67 to replace one burnt down ,lost a lot of stock and club were helped out generously by Liverpool F.C. i recall driving to Melwood with Manager Billy Bingham to pick up several kits match balls etc.
Reraly well run club Southport i would love to se them back in the Football League.

Interesting tales from Southport, Nozer!

Here's more late 70s terracing - who's this?
